The birds are singing, the trees are budding, and your yard might be looking a little worse for wear. Maybe you have some leftover leaves from the fall, or some winter decorations that you’ve procrastinated taking down. No matter what your yard challenge is this year, we’re here to get you ready for the season of gatherings, barbecues, and spring fun. Today, we’re picking up the shears and giving you a list of tips and tricks to get your yard ready for Spring.
Removing Old Leaves & Debris
Has your yard accumulated old fall leaves, maybe even some old branches and other plant debris from seasons past? This may seem overwhelming, but decluttering your yard is one of the best first steps you can take to sprucing up your yard. An easy way to get rid of debris, is by having a rake and some paper and plastic bags on standby. The paper bags are great for putting leaves in, while plastic bags are going to be more durable for things like branches and dead plants. Alternatively, if you have a lawnmower and a mower bag, you can rake your leaves into a pile in your yard and mow over them to create a leafy mulch that works perfectly for suppressing weeds.
Uprooting Old Plants
Want a fresh new look for your yard? Uprooting old plants and weeds is the way to go. Break out your trowel and start by taking out some plants that might be rough shape, replacing them with new sprouts for the spring season. Be sure to keep an extra pile on the side for all of your weeds too!
Pruning Your Shrubs
Another great way to help clean up your yard is to prune your shrubbery. You probably have noticed your shrubs steadily getting taller and taller as winter progressed, and they might be a bit too big for your liking now. This is an easy fix with some shears and a plastic bag to help catch the debris. Not only does pruning your shrubs give them a nice appearance, it also keeps them healthy by preventing decay and pests from hiding in the leaves.
We hope that these tips and tricks will help you get started with cleaning your yard for the Spring season. If you still need an extra hand around the yard, don’t hesitate to reach out and contact us!
